Are you a song writer who’d like to make a difference in America? Then participate in Songs to Reclaim America! A songwriting adventure... and contest.
Do you have something to say and a song (or songs) to say it with? Would you like to have your song available for play on PolitiTunes.com Then send us your songs.
We will be selecting a lot of songs for our Internet play list.
Plus, we’ll be choosing 16 to 20 songs to include on the upcoming CD, Songs to Reclaim America!
You’ll keep all the rights to songs you’ve written and you’ll be paid royalties for your songs if they’re included on the CD.
If you’ve already got the song(s) enter immediately. If you’re inspired but haven’t finished writing a song that makes a difference... go write.
Let’s use our talents to reclaim our great country and live the life of democracy and freedom that Tom Jefferson and our other founders had in mind. Write and sing. Tell the truth that must be told.
Here’s how to enter.
Songwriting Contest Rules
1. Break some rules. It’s about time America!
2. Send in your songs on any current political, environmental or social justice subject, from any viewpoint… with the understanding that our parakeet prefers Right-Wing Songs as birdcage liner.
3. You can submit your songs either by email, including an MP3 attachment, or snail mail on a CD. In either case, include a lyric sheet for each song.
If you’re submitting ONE song by email,
send your lyrics and an MP3 recording to songs@polititunes.com.
If you’re sending snail mail, send your lyrics and a CD with your song to:
Bryan Frink, PolitiTunes.com, 1016 Timberline Terrace, Ashland, OR 97520
We will be reviewing lyric sheets before we listen to each song. Well written songs about appropriate subjects that also have well performed recordings will certainly get onto the online play list and into the finals.
4. Songs should be no longer than 4 minutes, or fifty thousand miles, whichever comes first.
5. Neatness does not count. Humor, passion, honesty and understandable lyrics do!
6. You will continue to own all rights to your song. If your song is selected as a winner, you will be asked to sign authorization for us to use it on this web site, for streaming play and public downloads. We will email the form to you so you can read and sign it.
7. Only send songs where you are the writer or co-writer. If you co-wrote the song with other writers, all writers must sign the form allowing your song to be put on PolitiTunes.com.
8. We intend to offer a CD version of the Best Of PolitiTunes for sale to the public via this web site during the 2008 political campaign season,
If your song is selected, we will pay you industry-standard royalties for mechanical and/or performance rights for the use of your song on any CDs sold. The online-downloads of all our songs are free, so we won’t collect money or pay royalties for those.
9. If we love both your song and your recorded performance of it, you’ll also be paid performer royalties and mechanical-rights royalties for CDs sold.. If we love your song, but you don’t have a great recording of it, we’ll talk to you about how we might proceed with the song anyway. We’ll work out those details when the time comes. First, we’re looking for excellent songs and almost any quality recording can be played on the Internet.
10. Please note, we will not return any entry CDs or printed lyric sheets we receive.
11. Although visitors to PolitiTunes.com will in essence be “voting” for the songs they would like to have put on the CD, the selections of judges (Bob Miner & Bryan Frink) are kind of final. If you’d like us to reconsider any decision, please contact us.
